She immediately regrets her decision when Caitlin gravitates to the biggest, sloppiest dog in the pound, Jake. Megan’s beautiful new home is now in shambles and , as Megan considers returning Jake to the shelter, handsome ballplayer Ben shows up claiming Jake is his dog, the regrettable outcome of his roommate leaving a gate open. Megan and Ben butt heads. Ben wants to take his dog and leave, until he sees that Caitlin loves Jake as much as he ever could. Now it is clear: the pound puppy everyone loves deserves no less than joint custody.

Dove Worldview:
This is a wonderful and wholesome family movie about romance, a dog, and baseball. What’s not to like? Ben Fuller (Victor Webster) is a professional ball player who loves his dog Jake. When he is away Jake escapes from home and roams the local city streets. When a dog catcher nabs him, he winds up as the new pet of a young girl named Caitlin (Katie Hawkins). Her mother Megan (Candace Cameron Blue) isn’t crazy about the idea but sees how much pleasure it gives her daughter. Ben tracks his dog to Megan and Caitlin’s home and they eventually find a solution as to who will take care of Jake, both families will. Jake is to be a “shared” pet.

However, things become more complicated when Megan and Ben fall for each other and Megan backs off, believing that Ben might not have a future if his baseball plans don’t pan out. Rest assured a happy ending will occur. This is a movie which focuses on character development and does so with quality acting and a fine story. We are glad to award this entertaining and wholesome movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal. Watch this film and “Puppy Love” just might strike you too! We think the story and wholesome qualities of this movie warrant a presentation of five Doves from us, our best rating.
